Bunny Lunch

Today's lunch included a special request from Tiny Bee: Bunny Egg!

Pictures and a write up after the break!

Packing cute simple bentos style lunches is easy and fun

We recently got these Bear and Bunny Egg Molds. I can see the purchase of more egg molds in our future as Tiny Bee is loving them. We tested a few before adding them into our lunch rotation and she gobbled them up.

The egg molds make a double sided image. For today's bento we ended up with two because the mold didn't release very well and the egg broke in half. That turned out okay, because this way I was able to remove the yolk which she only eats rarely. We boiled, chilled and peeled the eggs as normal. To mold, I boiled water again, added a few drops of food coloring to the water and dropped the eggs in for a few minutes. Then they get popped into the mold and go into the fridge for a few hours to set up. The whole process is only a little more complicated than a plain boiled egg, but makes for the cutest effect!

The rest of today's lunch consists of:
  • Cold Bowtie Pasta, tossed in melted butter and a little salt with some parmasean cheese on top.
  • Annie's Bunny Graham Crackers
  • One adorable bunny egg
  • Black Olives
  • Pepperoni
  • Heart shaped colby-jack cheese
  • Edamame
  • Sugar Snap Peas
  • Carrots
  • Heart Shaped Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Cherry Tomatoes
